How can a just transition be used as a way to tackle development challenges?

On December 17 in 2020 Union to Union hosted an international launch of the report Just Transition in the international development cooperation context. Just transition is a concept that was born out of the trade union movement. It is about protecting workers and communities affected by this necessary transition so that economies can generate lower emissions and have less environmental impact. It allows for improvements to the environment to be combined with addressing development challenges, poverty and inequalities – leaving no one behind. In this webinar we looked at what the report concludes and discussed how the Just Transition Framework can be used to tackle development challenges that integrate all three pillar of sustainable development - economic, social and environmental - at once.
